It was reported that a group of muslim friday prayers crowd of about 1,000 people led by UMNO had demanded the Penang Government not to abolish the New Economic Policy (NEP) which gives preferential status to the Malays.

It was later reported that Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng assured the Malays in the State that they will still enjoy the same benefits as before but it will be in line with the real purpose of uplifting the bumiputras and NOT for the benefit of the 'rich' UMNOputras as what is been practiced now.

The crowd dispersed after one hour without any problems and after the assurance given by the Chief Minister.

What a clever manipulation by the UMNO leaders to instil fear among the innocent Malays and using them to create unnecessary tension among the races which, I am not surprised, may eventually lead to BIG trouble, like the May 13 incident. Hopefully, PDRM is able to read the intentions of the UMNO opposition before it gets out of hand. What next, I wonder..??
