PAS & MALAY OR ISLAMIC UNITY - WHY ALL THIS FUSS?

Malaysiakini had widely reported about the Malay or Islamic Unity discussion or muzakarah by PAS and UMNO were held for a few times since the March general elections. Various comments have been levelled by bloggers and writers regarding this 'mysterious and secret' talks until it had surfaced recently. Recent reports have indicated that UMNO had even offered the Prime Minister's position and/or the Selangor Menteri Besar's post to PAS if they(PAS) agree to cross-over to the Barisan Nasional and team up with UMNO. These were revealed by former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo a few days ago.

This issue had blown out of proportion to the fact that PAS which claims to champion the malay Islamic cause had branded all its opponents including UMNO as 'kafirs' (infidels)and the sudden teaming-up and having secret talks in the name of Islam or Malay had take the Malaysia rakyat by surprise.

Everyone is familiar with the intentions of UMNO after their disastrous defeat in the recent March general elections and where they (UMNO/BN) lost 5 States to the Opposition and also having lost its majority (2/3) in Parliament. Ever since then there are rumours that BN elected representatives are going to 'cross-over' to the Opposition Pakatan Rakyat (BR) to topple the BN government. UMNO is actual worried about its slim majority and the shame it is going to endure if investigations on its mismanagement and corrupt practises are revealed to the rakyat by these new Opposition State governments. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident that PR will take control of the government by 16 September 2008, which also worries UMNO since there are a lot of stakes to be lost which will see the ultimate demise of UMNO and BN.

PAS on the other hand had gained control of a few unexpected seats in the March general elections due to the efforts of their collaboration with PR and due to the no-confidence stand by the rakyat on the BN who are branded 'uncaring, ineffective, inefficient and corrupt'. PAS had also open its doors to non-Muslims which also boost their confidence.

What the rakyat could not have expected is these so-called religious leaders of PAS had backstabbed the rakyat by having a few talks with this 'useless and corrupt' UMNO, whose main motive is to remain in power forever which will allow them to swindle the country's resources. PAS is familiar with their intentions but had continued to accomodate and done it.

It seems that PAS has a lot of explanations to do since the rakyat has got 'second thoughts' of its real intention. Being educated scholars from renowned Islamic institutions, they should have used their wisdom and NOT in this manner. No one can blame MalaysiaToday blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin to be critical in his articles regarding their talks http://w2.malaysia-today.net/content/view/10365/1/ and http://w2.malaysia-today.net/content/view/10344/1/. Some interesting article to ponder on are http://w2.malaysia-today.net/content/view/10361/84/ and http://w2.malaysia-today.net/content/view/10241/84/.

Now, Malaysians will know WHAT THE FUSS IS ALL ABOUT. It looks like certain groups have failed to keep within their main frame and honour the rakyat's trust.

Will Malaysian, whether Malays or non-Malays TRUST PAS anymore?

Seems like these people in PAS will never learn that an injured crocodile will still be a crocodile. Why the hell they go and mingle with them? At the end, the buffalo himself got bitten! Hey PAS, you already has a family in PR, don't go around doing affairs with the crocodile.
