J B JEYARETNAM - A TEARY FAREWELL

J.B. Jeyaretnam, or JBJ as he is well-known, aged 82, passed away of a heart failure on September 30 held his funeral service at St Andrews's Cathedral today was attended by more than 600 family, friends, relatives, opposition politicians and activists.

JBJ was well known in Singapore as a strong Opposition member even when the ruling government had tried their level best to incapacitate him with lawsuits and bankruptcy.

The will to serve Singaporeans kept him until his dying days. A great Statesman who Singaporeans will never forget.

JBJ was a first class honours law degree holder from Cambridge University and was married to Margaret Walker, a British while studying in London who also died in 1980 of cancer, a year before JBJ's parliamentary victory at Anson.

JBJ was cremated in Mandai and he leaves behind his two loving sons and four grandchildren.
