SAPP DISASSOCIATES FROM BARISAN NASIONAL

The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Supreme Council which met a few minutes ago had resolved to disassociate itself from the Barisan Nasional coalition since they feel that BN has lost its 'BN spirit'.

Various incident had taken place which is not in the spirit of our multi-racial and multi-religious society. The March 8 general elections is an indicator that BN is governing the county in an ineffective, inefficient, uncaring and corrupt manner which the rakyat dislikes.

Even after months of this election, BN seems not to realise this fact.

BN need to realise that Sabahans and Sarawakians were the major players for BN to remain in power and issues faced by these two states are 'neglected'.

Sabah had voiced its deep concern on the issue of MyKad to Muslim illegals but this is just ignored by the BN administration.

If we are unable to ensure a clean and safe Sabah it would be best to disassociate ourselves from BN and fight our cause ourselves.

At the same time, BN is facing a crisis on its administration with threats that the Opposition may topple them and form a new government.

ANWAR MAY BE ARRESTED UNDER INTERNAL SECURITY ACT (ISA)

It is expected that Opposition leader and de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim may be arrested under the Internal Security Act anytime from now.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi did not discount this fact but was quoted as saying that a prominent political leader is a national threat and in the interest of national security something must be done to ensure the country is in peace and order.

Datuk Seri Anwar had written to PM Datuk Seri Abdullah for a peaceful takeover of government which the Prime Minister has refused to adhere by saying that Datuk Seri Anwar is a liar and with today's appointment as Defence Minister, PM Datuk Seri Abdullah could make the army to take control and enforce emergency rule to oust any takeover bid.

Anwar: We're ready to form new gov't

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a mass rally today, on the eve of a deadline he has set to seize power with the help of defecting government lawmakers.

Datuk Seri Anwar arrived to rapturous applause from a crowd of about 20,000 people gathered at a Kuala Lumpur stadium which echoed to chants of 'Reformasi' - the opposition battlecry of 'Reform'.

Officials from his Keadilan party said he would make a speech that could shed light on his plans to topple the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, which has dominated Malaysian politics for past 51 years.

But there were mixed messages over whether he will on Tuesday declare he has the support of the 30 BN Members of Parliament he needs to form a new administration, and formally challenge Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Tian Chua, information chief of his Keadilan party, said the three-member opposition alliance had signed up enough defectors to form a simple majority in parliament and that Datuk Seri Anwar wanted to meet with PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Tuesday to inform him.

'We want Datuk Seri Abdullah to assure us there will be no repressive force used, like involving the police or inviting the military to take control,' he told AFP.

Tian Chua said the opposition's push had been helped by a government crackdown Saturday that saw an opposition politician, a prominent blogger and a journalist detained under draconian internal security laws.

'Datuk Seri Abdullah's final crackdown made people lose hope that he is ever going to be a liberal reformer, which he promised,' he said.

However, Keadilan vice-president Syed Husin Ali was more cautious, declining to specify how many defectors were on board and only saying that 'tomorrow the beginnings of the process will happen.' 'The whole process might take a month but it could be sooner,' he told AFP.

'You never know, he might announce something this evening. And tomorrow there will definitely be an announcement of something.'

Spirits were high at the stadium, which was emblazoned with Malaysian flags and posters demanding the release of the opposition politician and the blogger - who remain in custody after the journalist was freed.

Its reported in the NST today that Datuk Zaid Ibrahim’s resignation letter has apparently been rejected by PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and he had been urged to take two weeks’ leave and then continue with judicial reforms.

HOME MINISTER SYED HAMID SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND RESIGN

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar is under pressure to resign after the ISA arrest on three Malaysians, namely MalaysiaToday blogger, Raja Petra Kamaruddin, MP and Selangor Senior Executive Councillor, Teresa Kok and Sin Chew reporter, Tan Hoon Cheng. Reporter Tan was released yesterday after various parties made protest.

Many senior Ministers have expressed their shock and dissatisfaction and even one Minister in charge of law had tendered his resignation today.

Home Minister had initially 'blamed' the police for these arrest but it seems from his statements he is the main 'culprit' on the incident.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid should take full responsibility for the eroding confidence on the Barisan Nasional government and should gracefully resign.

All ISA detainees arrested last Friday, and also Hindraf 5 should be immediately released so that public confidence could be restored.

The main culprits, Datuk Ahmad Ismail and Datuk Seri Khir Toyo should be immediately arrested and charged in court for their seditious acts.

MARINA LEE ALLOWED TO VISIT RAJA PETRA TOMORROW

It has been reported that DSP Ibrahim Jaffar from Bukit Aman called Madam Marina at about 12pm today to inform her that family can pay a visit to Raja Petra Kamaruddin who has been detained under the ISA at Bukit Aman at 11am tomorrow (16 September 2008).

However, his laywers will also be allow to do so at 11am on Thursday (18 Sept 2008).

It is learnt that Raja Petra is on hunger strike.

LAW MINISTER ZAID QUITS OVER ISA

De facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has tendered his resignation at 2pm today at the Prime Minister's Office over the government's use of the Internal Security Act, which allows detention without trial, against three individuals last week.

Datuk Zaid has expressed his disagreement with last Friday's ISA dragnet where DAP parliamentarian and Selangor senior exco Teresa Kok, controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng were held for allegedly being a threat to national security. Reporter Tan had been released yesterday.

Datuk Zaid was not able to be contacted for more details. Datuk Zaid had tendered his resignation prior to meeting with PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

It seems UMNO and Barisan Nasional are in a serious crisis.

Furthermore, the Stock Market at the KLSE fell drastically in reactions to the ISA arrest since buyer confidence had eroded.

Law minister threatens to quit over ISA

De facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim today threatened to resign if the government continues to use the Internal Security Act, which allows detention without trial, against political dissidents.

The outspoken Barisan Nasional politician also called for the immediate release of DAP MP Teresa Kok and controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin who were arrested under the tough security law last Friday.

Datuk Zaid commented that our government commits to laws and reforms and can't be using old-style politics or resort to creating fear. He further stated that we have laws and the detainees should be charged in court.

Datuk Zaid will be trying to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi this week to convey to him his position. If Datuk Seri Abdullah considers his position untenable, he will leave.

The minister, who is a lawyer by training, held a press conference in Kota Baru earlier, where he also spoke on the matter.

UMNO INTERNAL TROUBLE BEGINS.....

Since the call made by UMNO Vice President and Minister of International Trade and Industries Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for Prime Minister and UMNO President Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to reconsider the 2010 transition of power plan while various squatters have been demanding that Tan Sri Muhyiddin should resign or step down if he is not happy with this decision since it had been agreed upon by the Supreme Council and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim had demanded Tan Sri Muhyiddin to resign if he was not happy with Datuk Seri Abdullah's leadership and for his comments on Datuk Seri Abdullah's early exit.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Mohd Johari Baharom had said the transition of power issue should never be raised while attention should be given to efforts to draw more support from among youths because we need them to rebuild strengthen of the party.

To show Datuk Seri Abdullah's commitment to UMNOputras, the recent crackdown of ISA did not comprise of UMNOputras like Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo or Datuk Ahmad Ismail, who are the main culprits for inciting mix racial and sensitive feelings, but innocent victims like Teresa Kok and journalist Tan were arrest just to combat their UMNO cause.

This clearly shows that UMNO is in turmoil and being the main leader in Barisan Nasional, they do not want their coalition partners to make demands that will further cripple the already weak Barisan Nasional.

PKR's 916 is another agenda that worries UMNO and BN. If Pakatan Rakyat were to topple the BN government, many BN leaders will face severe punishment and there could also be many coalition partners crossing over to the new government to keep their position and status intact.

But whatever the circumstances, the present tense mood is to show UMNO IS FACED BY SERIOUS INTERNAL TROUBLE.

SIN CHEW JOURNALIST TAN - I WROTE WHAT I HEARD

Sin Chew Daily journalist, Tan Hoon Cheng, who was released yesterday after being detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for almost 18 hours stood her ground, indicating her commitment to professional journalism.

Tan, whose detention by Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar was meant to ‘ensure her safety’, insisted that she wrote what she heard on the night on the eve of the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election when the then Bukit Bendera UMNO chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail allegedly a racist remarks that the Chinese community in Malaysia were mere 'squatters or lodgers' and should not demand to be treated equal.

Been unfazed by this recent development in her career, Tan claimed she would not quit and instead ‘will continue to work as a free and fair journalist’ with a brave and encouraging comment and an unwavering commitment to her profession.

916 - A REALITY IN THE MAKING - FOR A BETTER MALAYSIA

Everywhere we go we hear 916 - the day that the Opposition Pakatan Rakyat is suppose to topple the current Barisan Nasional government and form a new Opposition government, A NEW DAWN.

It seems quite eminent that PR may form this government since the rakyat is very unhappy with the BN administration and from the recent crackdown of ISA on innocent parties like Raja Petra, Teresa Kok and Journalist Tan Hoon Cheng, it clearly shows the FEAR the BN is having and feeling what would happen to its coalition once it loses all this 'power' after having it for the past 51 years.

Even after their disastrous defeat in the March 8 general elections, BN has still not learnt its lesson and still administer the country in an uncaring, ineffective, inefficient and corrupt manner where it seems UMNOputras could say and do anything and nothing happens.

Rakyat wants a CHANGE for a better. This could only be achieved if the BN government is toppled.

Malaysians are eagerly awaiting for a NEW DAWN to emerge on 916.

SIN CHEW REPORTER TAN - FREED

It was reported that Sin Chew senior reporter, Tan Hoon Cheng was released this afternoon and escorted home to Bukit Mertajam, Penang at 2.30pm by police.

MALAYSIANS FACED WITH 'FEAR'

Since yesterday, news of ISA been used to detain political opponents have been heard. The first casualty was MalaysiaToday blogger, Raja Petra Kamaruddin for his article that the ruling government and religious bodies claims has insulted Islam.

The second casualty is Sin Chew senior reporter, Tan Hoon Cheng, for her news coverage during the eve of Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election where she wrote a news that UMNO Bukit Bendera division chairman, Datuk Ahmad Ismail had mentioned that the Chinese community in Malaysia were mere 'squatters or lodgers' and should not claim for equal treatment. Datuk Ahmad was subsequently suspended by UMNO for 3 years but no action according to the law was undertaken for his sensitive seditious statement.

Thirdly, DAP Member of Parliament and Senior Selangor State Executive Councillor, Teresa Kok was detained due to Malay dailies reporting that she had told mosque officials in Kota Damansara, Sri Serdang and Puchong Jaya to tone down the call to prayer, which she had denied any involvement.

To the surprise of many, the makers of this false statements and reports who had incited racial hate have not been punished but innocent people who are not UMNOputras were detained under the ISA for performing their duties.

It is expected that the ruling Barisan Nasional government which is faced by internal troubles and with the Opposition claiming to topple them by September 16, seem to use this situation to make the rakyat to rise and cause a ruckus so that their actions can be justified, no matter what those actions may be, the rakyat must stand their ground and choose to choose peace.

Then, their plot will not survive.

Malaysians are eagerly awaiting for a NEW DAWN to emerge.

It is reported that Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar had indicated that Sin Chew senior reporter, Tan Hoon Cheng who had covered the Bukit Bendera UMNO division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail's story where Datuk Ahmad had claimed the Chinese community in Malaysia were mere 'squatters or lodgers' may be released as early as today.

It is reported that Tan is current detained at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid did not rule out further arrest.

It is also learned that Datuk Syed Hamid would have a press conference at Bukit Aman later today.

OPPOSITION ISA CRACKDOWN BEGINS....

Teresa Kok (pic....above), a Member of Parliament from the Chinese-based DAP which is a member of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat, had also been arrested under the ISA purportedly for her 'involvement against allegations that she complained about the noise of morning prayers at a mosque in her electorate while she has said the accusation is "preposterous".

Tan Hoon Cheng ( pic..above), a reporter for the Chinese-language Sin Chew Daily, was arrested for reporting on an outburst from a UMNOputra who had called the ethnic Chinese community "squatters".

Tan's report triggered a major row in the Barisan Nasional coalition which is made up of race-based parties. UMNO, which represents majority Muslim Malays, was forced to punish the member responsible by just suspending his party members for 3 years.

It was reported that "her colleagues from Sin Chew Daily are shocked about the arrest," the newspaper said in a statement. "Sin Chew Daily will stand firmly by our editorial position."

It seems that the Barisan Nasional government is indirectly trying to create a 'fear' on the rakyat and Opposition lawmakers.

But whatever the circumstances, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would have to ensure that the BN government is toppled as scheduled on Malaysia Day 16 September.
