Umno vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal balked at opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s allegation that Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Hashim is an Umno tool.
He said Zahrain’s disclosure of Pakatan Rakyat's internal problems to all and sundry was done of his own free will.
“Umno did not force him into revealing these details, neither did it stop him. He decided on his own to expose issues in PKR under the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim,” Shafie said.
“Anwar should not have walked out of the hall (Parliament). Maybe it was hot inside, but as a politician he (Anwar) should have acknowledged Zahrain’s right to speak, ” he said.
Shafie was referring to Wednesday’s incident in Parliament when Anwar walked out of the House minutes after Zahrain exposed his reasons for quitting PKR.
Zahrain revealed that Anwar told PKR members that he had the numbers by way of BN MPs who were ready to cross over to overthrow the government on Sept 16, 2008.
He said PKR members were told that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was ready to give assent to the opposition to form the government and that the military supported the takeover.
