MCA WANTS ITS LEADER TO BE APPOINTED DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

It is reported that Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) a big brother in the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition has made a request that its President be appointed the Deputy Prime Minister in the incoming reshuffle Cabinet line-up to show the true spirit of power-sharing concept claimed to be the spirit of the Barisan Nasional concept.

MCA Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Loke Yuen Yow, also claimed that he should also be appointed BN Deputy President, to help to realise the true ideology of a power-sharing of the BN administration and value the contribution of the Chinese in the Malaysian society.

Datuk Loke further claimed that MCA President who is Transport Minister now, Datuk Sri Ong Tee Kiat would take a fairer and a more justifiable policy which is beneficial to all, especially in areas relating to the Chinese in the fields of economics and education which is current held with 'suspicion'.

Will PM Datuk Seri Najib concede to this MCA request or maintain status quo to avoid a major UMNO crisis?

Under Najib's One Malaysia...everything is possible.
When I read your title, I dropped by expecting to read criticisms or racial rantings but was surprised that MCA's request did not get the usual racist response.
Look at it this way, the request by MCA was meant to assist Najib on the One Malaysia concept. At the moment, many Malaysians were unable to have access or receive political attention due to the compartmentalize political management along racial lines.
When a Non-Malay faced problems or bureaucratic frustrations, they were unable to have direct political protection or interference. MCA and MIC Ministers are confined to their respective Ministerial departments.
A Deputy Prime Minister will enable direct interference to remedy bureaucratic or Little Napoleons frustrations faced by the man in the street.
We need not look at this appointment as a deprivation or a challenge to UMNO. Why can't we see it from the complimentary point of view...Service to One Nation. Another Deputy to strengthen the Prime Minister. Another pillar to a weakening institution.
This appointment will also change the perception of monopoly of power by UMNO. Genuine power sharing instead of being wary and cautious towards UMNO's partner in BN.

As mentioned by Ti Lian Ker, genuine power sharing will be part of the One Malaysia concept. But the sceptic within me tells me that the ultras in UMNO will object most vehemently and perhaps even plan minefields for Najib in the next 4 years.

The raison d'etre of UMNO is Bangsa, Agama dan Negara - in that order. So ... how ???
