After the meeting of the UMNO Political Bureau this afternoon at the Prime Minister's Department at Putra Jaya, the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib did not speak to awaiting reporters and had rushed for a 2 day working visit to Sabah.
In the meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin kept mum when reporters pressed the Penanti State by-election issue while at the Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka in Kuala Lumpur.
From feedback, the Penanti State seat is a stronghold of the Opposition and the chances of victory for the Barisan Nasional or UMNO is very slim. BN or UMNO does not want to be embarrassed by another defeat since they had already lost 4 out of 5 by-elections so far.

Najib and Muhyiddin are running scared of by-elections and more so in PR's strongholds. A PR leader commented that they will get a thrashing of their lives if they decide to enter into the fray and that itself will further erode the morale and confidence of UMNO's supporters. The ex-PKR lady will not only lose her deposit but her sarong as well, he further quipped. No, UMNO/BN do not even stand a slim chance in Penanti.
