TUN DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD WILL NOT RESIGN GOVERNMENT ADVISORY APPOINTMENTS UNLESS SACKED

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that he will not relinquish the government advisory positions in Petronas, Proton, the Langkawi Development Authority and the Tioman Island Development Authority unless he is sacked by the present Barisan Nasional government headed by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. These appointments were made to him as the government had a policy of giving retired prime ministers jobs and has nothing to do whether the prime minister is still a UMNO member or not. Tun Dr Mahathir further claimed that Tun Hussien Onn, who did not join Umno Baru in 1987, was not removed of his advisory positions.

Tun Dr Mahathir made this claim while attending the “Suntikan Semangat Satria (Injecting the Warrior’s Spirit)” forum organised by Minda Melayu Kreatif, Kelab Cinta Amanah Melayu and Arena PJS 14 in Petaling Jaya in Selangor.

Are UMNOputras going to demand Tun Dr Mahathir to RESIGN ?

As much I support Tun, but the rule says that the govenment of the day will have the final say on who they want to hold the posts.

If I were the PM I would retain Tun as the advisor for Petronas. But For Tioman and Langkawi development, may be somebody who understand more of the nature, biodiversity and ecotourism should be the advisor - may be somebody that is active in NGO like Malaysian Nature Society (MNS). For Proton, well...
