ANWAR'S SODOMY TRANSFER - JUDGE TO DECIDE AFTER HEARING DEFENCE

The highly controversial sodomy trial of Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was heard today by Sessions Court Judge S M Komathy Suppiah while she ruled to dismissed a preliminary objection raised by the prosecution that she had no choice but to transfer the case to a higher court while deciding to hear the defence team's objections against the transfer notice submitted by Datuk Seri Anwar's leading lawyer Sulaiman Abdullah.

While much of this morning session was taken up by arguments on technical matters between the defence team and the prosecution, Judge Komathy nevertheless ruled that she would be hearing further submissions from Sulaiman after lunch on their objection to the transfer, while tomorrow morning, she would be hearing submissions from the prosecution as to why the matter should be transferred to the High Court.

Judge Komathy is only expected to deliver her decision after hearing both parties.
