Various speculations are been made as to the anticipated decision that Prime Minister and UMNO President Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is going to decide on 9 October 2008, the deadline set by him on this matter.
Will he seek re-election as UMNO President or will he decide to call it quits, are the questions in every Malaysian, especially UMNO leaders mind.
Datuk Seri Abdullah has been facing various issues of no confidence call by a BN component party, resign call by the former premier, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, quit by year end ultimatum from his own top UMNO leaders, and many more.
The greatest regret ever encountered by Datuk Seri Abdullah is the disastrous defeat in the March 8 general elections which saw the Opposition for the first time securing 5 States under their rule and capturing a third of the seats in parliament.
Various reasons have been given for this disastrous defeat,to name a few namely, uncaring, incompetency and weak administration.
Initially, Datuk Seri Abdullah had announced that he will hand-over power to his deputy sometime in 2010 but of late, there have been many criticisms levelled against this decision.
Further more, every effort to restore public confidence in his administration has also failed.
Most UMNOputras claim that to avoid a severe embarrassment in the nomination process, it would be best for Datuk Seri Abdullah to quit by October 9.
Will Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi QUIT?
