BARISAN NASIONAL NOT CONTESTING IN PENANTI

The Barisan Nasional Supreme Council today decide that the BN coalition would NOT contest in the Penanti State by-elections.

The reasons offered is that its a political ploy used by the Opposition to show they are favourites among the voters and that the people have lost confidence with the ruling BN coalition government and want a change of government.

But reliable sources indicated that the Opposition would win with an overwhelmingly majority and the BN does not want to be embarrassed.

It's so obvious. I am laughing to see NAjib's comment on TV3 just now.

Owh well, the first thing on my mind is, why on earth do we need that by-election? Hidup la kamu dengan cara hidup kamu, politicians sekalian.

Both arguments could be valid but it does seem unusual that the BN has given up on this seat, regardless of the reasons stated. The BN has the machinery and resources to mount a challenge anywhere.

To speakup, a by-election can only be avoided if there are no other candidates on Nomination Day. I would expect a few independents to register and I suspect that they will have some resource support from the BN.

The purpose will be two-fold

a) make the PR spend money and other resources
b) use it as a platform to denigrate the PR, thru the independent agents

Bro Kamal is only kind by saying PR will win with an overwhelming majority but the fact is that PR will hand such a humiliating trouncing to BN that they would have lost more credibility among their own supporters and Malaysians in general.

Najib can make all sorts of excuses and the MSMs will dance to his tune but he knows that as of now his greatest fear is a by-election. Morale in his party is at an all time low.

UMNO has made history of sorts by first time staying away from a by-election much to the chagrin of Che Det.

As for that ex-PKR lady who will be standing as an independent, a PR leader quipped that not only will she lose her deposit but her sarong as well!

PR machinery and resources are on standby at all times and we are ready to do battle if and when the need arises!
