The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Deputy President and Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy is expected to annouce his retirement from politics today in wave of poor health and due to scandals in his ministry.
When the list of potential candidates were released by Selangor Menteri Besar, it was quoted that this Parliamentary seat candidate will be annouced later.
The MCA Central Working Committee is current discussing the issue and it will release a statement after they have finished.
Speculation have been around that Chan would not seek re-nominations and it seem that it will be true.
At the same time, various Barisan Nasional leaders have been announcing their list of potential candidates while certain areas have been identified by the Opposition team.
From the current standing it seems quite clear that it will be a one-to-one fight at most places and would be a very interesting elections ahead.
Nomination date is on 24 February 2008 while polling date is on March 8, 2008.

Its confirm that Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy WILL NOT contest in this elections.
