KUALA TERENGGANU BARISAN NASIONAL CANDIDATE DATUK WAN AHMAD FARID REFUSE TO DEBATE ON OIL ROYALTY CONTROVERSY

Terengganu based non-governmental organisation, People's Solidarity Council (Mampat) wanted to organise a debate between Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh with PAS candidate Abdul Wahid Endut on the oil royalty controversy but Datuk Wan Farid had backed out today since he claimed that the oil royalty issue had been restored to the Terengganu State and with that, there is nothing to debate upon.

It was reveal that Mampat had already extended their official invitation to Datuk Wan Farid, but it seems Datuk Wan Farid claims he had not received them. Datuk Wan Farid further informed that he would not waste time on issues that have been settled.

The Barisan Nasional federal government had recently restored the oil royalty payments to Terengganu after it was suspended after the Opposition PAS government took control after the previous elections.

It was further reveal that if the debate had taken place, the Barisan Nasional and BN candidate would suffer a terrible blow since it would show the 'bullying' tactics employed by UMNO or BN to cripple its opponents although rightfully the State should have been given these monies which the federal government had contracted into.
