KUALA TERENGGANU RETURNING OFFICER RESIGNS OVER COMPLAINTS THAT HE HAS CAMPAIGNED FOR BARISAN NASIONAL

It has been widely reported that the Kuala Terengganu Returning Officer Mat Razali Kassim, who is also the Kuala Terengganu Mayor has resigned and is now replaced by the deputy Returning Officer Wan Mustafa Hassan, who is also the City Council Secretary over complaints by PAS Terengganu Deputy Commissioner Wan Mutalib Embong, who had claimed yesterday that Mat Razali had abused his position to influence and threatened his 500 council staff to vote for the Barisan Nasional.

PAS had made a formal report to the Police and Election Commission on this matter.

Saturday's polling is a three-cornered contest among Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh of Barisan Nasional, Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut of PAS and Independent candidate Azharudin Mamat @ Adam.
