ELECTION FEVER BEGINS......

Malaysians are feeling the heat while everywhere the word is 'election is just around the corner'. Whether its true or false, the general election need to be held by next year when the term of the present elected representatives expires. The last general elections was held on 21 March 2004. Barisan Nasional (BN) insiders seem to be quoting that the election would be held before Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the former Deputy Prime Minister, and currently Adviser of KEADILAN becomes eligible to stand for election. The Election Commissioner, Tan Sri Rashid had told the press to be ready for a general election within a couple of months, while police and military personnel's' leave have all been frozen with immediate effect. These are indicators that the general election is about to be held.

But there are various problems still unresolved by the ruling government. The HINDRAF issue, BERSIH issue, Lingam Video scandal and so forth still haunt the ruling coalition's chances in the coming polls. Until most of these issues are somewhat resolved, the BN will lose a substantial number of election seats in this coming polls. Are they prepared for this? Observers quote that they may even lose this coming election to the opposition parties.

But to the rakyat its time once again to cast their votes. Various goodies would be offered by the BN, to gain the trust of the rakyat to vote for them. Many promises would be heard been made to secure victory for the BN. Statements like, a known and capable coalition (that is BN) is better than an unknown and untested opposition coalition'.

But whatever the circumstances, it all up to the rakyat to cast their vote. The rakyat need to be very careful in making this decision.

Let's wait for the official announcement from the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Then, its confirm, the election fever has commenced.
