UMNO Supreme Council is expected to meet today at 3pm to discuss on various issues. Among the top of the list is the appointment of the Terengganu Menteri Besar. It is also learned that UMNO is also going to discuss the issue of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's EGM proposal of May 11, Datuk Ghapur Salleh's 'unexpected' resignation from the cabinet and fears of many BN elected representatives cross-over to the Opposition.
It is reported that PM Datuk Seri Abdullah had met the Yang Dipertuan Agong to discuss the issue of the status of Menteri Besar of Terengganu. It seems that Datuk Seri Abdullah has agreed to retain Palace appointed Datuk Ahmad Said as the new Menteri Besar despite the protest by the 22 UMNO elected representatives who want Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh and further the Palace has agreed as a compromise to appoint Chukai State Assemblyperson Datuk Muhamad Awang Tera as the Deputy Menteri Besar.
It is also reported that the Palace is expected to strip the title of Datukship from Idris Jusoh and State Umno secretary Rosol Wahid for showing disrespect to the Palace.
We need to await the outcome of the meeting to conclude the fate of UMNO and its Barisan Nasional.
If UMNO and BN does not resolve the current major issues, BN is expected to be TOPPLED, since most members feel that they seem 'weak' and 'no longer powerful' to command any respect from anyone.
Will the meeting be meaningfull in resolving pending important issues.
