Khalid denies last term as MB Selangor

Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied speculation that this would be his last term as Selangor menteri besar and that he would be returning to the corporate world.

He said the thought had neither occurred to him nor was the matter brought up officially, Bernama reported today.

Khalid, who is also Selangor PKR chief, said he would like to serve for as long the people and his colleagues in the party want him.

He said this to reporters after attending the monthly assembly of state government departments near Shah Alam today.

To a question, Khalid said he would continue in politics if that was the best thing for him to do.

Khalid became the first non-Umno menteri besar when he was sworn into the position on March 13, 2008, following the March 8 general elections two years ago.

The 13 menteris besar before him have all been from the BN-component party.
