MIC'S PALANIVEL IS BN CANDIDATE FOR HULU SELANGOR PARLIAMENTARY BY-ELECTIONS BUT UMNO ALSO MAKING ITS CLAIM

MIC deputy president Datuk G Palanivel has been indicated to contest in the upcoming Hulu Selangor Parliamentary by-elections as a Barisan Nasional candidate. The Hulu Selangor parliament seat fell vacant due to the death of Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad of the PKR last night.Datuk Palanivel  was defeated by the PKR member Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad during the last elections on 8 March 2008 by a slim majority.

MIC claims it has a very good chance of recapturing the seat back for the Barisan Nasional since Datuk Palanivel has been working very closely with the Hulu Selangor residents and voters.

UMNO Selangor has also proposed former MB Tan Sri Muhamad Muhamad Taib as a potential candidate although it has always been a MIC seat.

In the meanwhile, PKR would decide on its candidate after the funeral of Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

It was also reported that Human Rights Party, which is still under registration hopes to use this opportunity to test the market by having its pro-tem Secretary-General, P Uthayakumar to contest in the by-election which will give this Party the platform to voice their grievences of the Indian community.
