How to talk a lot but say nothing

At best, Zul is raising innuendoes and insinuations. He does not even dare come right out and clarify matters. Zul’s clarification is no clarification. Instead, what he has done is to raise more questions than provide answers.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin
‘Independent’ Member of Parliament Zulkifli Noordin held a press conference yesterday. You can see the video below.

He started off by saying that he was holding the press conference at the request of his ‘friends’ from the media. He does not intend to say anything, said Zul, but if there are any questions then he will attempt to answer them.

Then he went on and talked non-stop without answering any of the questions. And, true to form, he talked a lot but said nothing. He never identified those people who had asked him to link what he called ‘the First Couple’ to the Altantuya murder.

Many may have forgotten back in 1999 when Zul went all over the country giving talks during ceramahs about how Anwar Ibrahim had been poisoned with arsenic. There were those in the party who felt Zul was going overboard with the Anwar had been poisoned drama.

Zul related in great detail how he had personally met Anwar and that he has no doubts in his mind that Anwar had been poisoned. Anwar is close to death, said Zul, to the sobs of the audience.

At the height of the Altantuya murder trial, Zul withdrew as one of the lawyers for the accused and cited that it was impossible for him to continue acting as their lawyer because of the pressure and interference from certain parties that he was facing. He did not explain what pressure and interference he was facing nor did he identify the parties concerned.

At best, Zul is raising innuendoes and insinuations. He does not even dare come right out and clarify matters. Zul’s clarification is no clarification. Instead, what he has done is to raise more questions than provide answers.

Nevertheless, Zul has made two very serious allegations. One was that he was asked by certain parties, still unknown, to fabricate evidence against Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor. Secondly, he was subjected to pressure and faced interference in his job as the lawyer for someone accused of murder and had to withdraw from the case because of this.

These are two very serious crimes but Zul refuses to explain what really happened and who are the people involved. This means Zul himself is now committing a crime.

The police will now have no choice but to haul him in for interrogation so that he can identify these criminals and reveal in what way they coaxed or intimidated him into committing the serious crime of fabricating evidence. There was an attempt by certain parties to interfere in a murder trial and to try to implicate innocent parties in the crime of murder. This can’t be allowed to go unpunished and it is the duty of the police to investigate this.

Zul may not realise it but he has just opened a Pandora’s Box. By revealing that there are certain parties who tried to get him to fabricate evidence, and certain parties who pressured him and interfered in his job as a lawyer for someone accused of murder, he has admitted that he is aware of and has knowledge of a crime having been committed. The police will have to get him to fill in the blanks or else these criminals will go unpunished.

Good luck to Zul. He may have just put his head in the noose. If the police do nothing then this would mean Zul is lying. But to so something the police will have to go for Zul.

Are you sure Zul is a qualified lawyer?

Another thing that Zul will need to explain is why did he protect these criminals all these years? He knew a crime had been committed. And he is a lawyer who is supposed to know the law. Yet he kept silent all these years and only now is he coming forward to make his confession. Even then he is not telling the whole story or revealing the names of the criminals.

Let’s see what the police do next. The police have no choice but to take action. But what action will they take?

I am eagerly waiting and am holding my breath. I just hope I don’t turn blue waiting.
