Pakatan sets two conditions for Perak assembly attendance

The 28 Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives will attend the Perak state assembly scheduled for March 30 under two conditions, said former state exco and DAP Perak chief Ngeh Koo Ham (below).

ngeh koo hamThe first, he told a press conference in Ipoh on Saturday, is that the BN-appointed assembly speaker R Ganesan must get the court to declare him as the legitimate speaker of the house.

This is because Ganesan was 'illegally' appointed before the Perak regent Raja Nazrin Shah officiated the assembly sitting on May 7, 2009, whereas the Perak Constitution states that the house cannot transact any business or pass any resolution prior to the royal address, claimed Ngeh.

Pakatan Ngeh also said that Ganesan must resign from his professional post as lawyer within the 90 days as stipulated by the regulations. Failure to do so would mean his disqualification, said Ngeh.

'Zambry must appoint Sivakumar'

Sivakumar will conduct himself professionally as speaker and give equal rights to both BN and Pakatan assemblypersons to voice out their concerns affecting the public, said Ngeh.

V SivakumarWhen asked what action Pakatan would take if both Ganesan and Zambry refused to oblige to the two conditions, Ngeh said only, “We will decide on what type of action we will take when the time comes.”

Ngeh also said that Sivakumar will issue the official Pakatan invitation for all 59 assemblypersons to attend the March 30 sitting.
