Apco claims: Anwar to explain next Tuesday

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who has landed in a hot soup over his 'One Israel' jibe last week, is expected to give an explanation to the Dewan Rakyat next Tuesday morning. According to Anwar's lawyer and also PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah, Tuesday would be the last day of the seven-day deadline imposed on him, as demanded by the government.

Yesterday, the government gave the PKR leader a week to substantiate his allegation that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration has hired public relations firm Apco Worldwide to work on the '1Malaysia' concept which mirrored the One Israel concept which was also conceptualised by Apco.

The US-based firm has since denied having any links with the “One Israel” campaign.

Earlier, Sivarasa accompanied Anwar to a meeting with Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee in the chamber to discuss the matter.

Anwar however refused to speak to the media after the 20-minute meeting.
