Cops investigate Lim Guan Eng for sedition


Police today went to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's office and took a statement from him and three other Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons.

The police are investigating charges of illegal assembly and seditious remarks purportedly made during the recent Pakatan-organised 'Tolak fitnah' forum and Chinese New Year open house activities.

9 police officers from several police stations reached Guan Eng's office at 1.10 pm.

12 assistants to the assemblypersons raised protest banners as a show of moral support and in protest of the police's 'political harassment' against Pakatan politicians.

The banners read 'Stop investigating our CM', 'Stop harassing our CM' and 'Stop harassing our elected representatives'.

NONELim faces 6 charges, including illegal assembly, sedition and criminal defamation. The three Penang assemblypersons who had their statements recorded are Ong Khan Lee (Kebun Bunga), VS Raveentharan (Batu Uban) and Sim Tze Tzin (Pantai Jerejak). It is learned that 10 Pakatan elected representatives have been called up by police. Of these, six have given their statementsto the police, including deputy chief ministers P Ramasamy and Mansor Othman, and exco members Abdul Malik and Chow Kon Yeow.
