In a Twitter posting by PKR vice-president Azmin Ali, Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim has agreed to Rosmah's removal in a month's time.
Azmin's posting was referring to a gathering of 300 Unisel students with Azmin, Khalid and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
"Students urged the MB to remove Datin Rosmah (right) as Unisel chancellor. MB agreed and will announce in one month. Thunderous applause," read Azmin's posting.
Attempts to contact both Azmin and Khalid were unsuccessful.
Selangor executive council member Dr Xavier Jayakumar however retorted in his own Twitter posting that Azmin's description was not entirely accurate.
Scouting for replacement
Confirming this today, Xavier said Rosmah will not be renewed when it expires in June but stressed that she is not being "sacked".
"We are not terminating her from the position, we are just not renewing her term," he told Malaysiakini at the Kuala Lumpur court complex this morning.
However, Xavier (left), who is also a PKR supreme council member, adds that this has not been formalised because it must first be deliberated by the Selangor government, which owns Unisel.
He said currently, the state government is scouting for possible candidates to step into the post come June.
"We have a list of names (to replace Rosmah as chancellor), and we are also looking at several other names," he said.
Soon after taking reigns in Selangor in 2008, certain groups have urged Rosmah to quit the post because of she is tainted by several controversies.
