Hishammuddin to Lim Kit Siang: Accept reality

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein rebuked veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang for exploiting a reported rift between him and inspector-general of police (IGP) Musa Hassan.

"I have already said repeatedly that there is no rift between me and the IGP but Lim is purposely exploiting it for his political purposes. Only yesterday I responded to the allegation and today they still cannot accept the fact and (are) accusing us of acting," said the minister.

Hishammuddin was responding to Lim's accusation that the minister and the IGP are pretending to be on good terms, alluding to the newspaper photos today of the duo greeting each other.

He told reporters at the Parliament lobby that Lim should just accept the truth and reality that there is no "crack" in their relationship.

"They (the opposition) are purposely harping on this issue," said Hishammuddin.

azlanClaims that the duo are at odds were hilighlighted after Musa was interviewed by Malay-language daily Utusan Malaysia's weekend edition Mingguan Malaysia. Musa was quoted as saying that a 'third party' is interfering with the police force.

Musa was vague about whether this third party comprised politicians or other individuals.

Asked to comment, Hishammuddin had said that he was unaware of the situation and urged the authorities to investigate.

He also said Musa was merely responding to a question during the interview and their relationship was still a cordial one.

"I don't know what else to say, people can see for themselves. How else can we expose their lies; that all this is for politics?" he asked.

Lim: Don't bluff

At an earlier press conference, Lim demanded a clarification from Musa as reported in Mingguan Malaysia.

lim kit siang 02"We want a proper explanation from the IGP. He must explain the truth or otherwise, admit that what was reported was wrong."

The DAP veteran said Hishammuddin and Musa should not mislead Malaysians over the issue.

"Do they really expect Malaysians to believe that all is well between them, as if what happened over the past few days and their statements never existed? Hishammuddin and Musa should not cover up the issue," he added.
