Selangor EC: Ten Sets of Nomination Forms Sold


Ten sets of nomination forms for Hulu Selangor by-election on April 25 have been sold, Selangor Election Commission (EC) director Dzulkifli Ab. Rahman said.


He said the forms available from Selangor EC office and Hulu Selangor district office at RM20 each were bought by agents or representatives of candidates.

"Some of them bought two or three sets. This is normal as not all will file the papers on nomination day," he told Bernama at his office here today.

Several independent candidates are expected to contest the tenth by-election since the 2008 general election.

Nomination will be held in Kuala Kubu Baru on Saturday.

PKR will announce its candidate today while Barisan Nasional (BN) will announce its canddiate on Thursday.

The by-election was called following the death of Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) of cancer on March 25.

Dzulkifli said 1,370 people would be involved to ensure that the by-election went on smoothly.

Nomination and vote tabulation would be held at the multi-purpose hall, sports complex of Hulu Selangor district office.

He said the by-election would involve 46 schools and a community hall with 136 voting streams.

EC was organising a programme for voters to check the electroal roll and voting stations starting today.

April 13 - Kampung Melayu Rasa and Kampung Pasir/Kerling, Batang Kali (10am-12pm, 2pm-4.30pm).

April 14 - Kampung Sentosa and Kampung Pasir/Ulu Yam, Batang Kali (10am-2pm, 2pm-4.30pm).

April 15 - Kuala Kubu Bharu town and Kampung Kelapa, Kuala Kubu Bharu (10am-12pm, 2pm-4.30pm).


EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof had said the 2009 electoral roll updated until March 26 would be used for the by-election.

Hulu Selangor has 64,550 registered voters comprising 63,701 ordinary voters and 799 postal voters.
