Liow on tour to feel out support


With ten days left for nomination on March 22, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai is rushing to seek delegates views before deciding which party post to contest.

The health minister said the views of delegates was most important in his decision making for MCA fresh polls on March 28.

“From tonight (yesterday), I will be travelling across the country to seek views and gauge support of grassroots members and central delegates.

“I will listen to their views and will decide at a later date,” Liow said when met at a dinner hosted by Wangsa Maju MCA chairman Datuk Yew Teong Look here last night.

Asked whether he would cooperate with former MCA secretary-general Datuk Ong Ka Chuan, Liow declined to elaborate.

“The cooperation aside, I think we need to work with everybody, with all the leaders. It is important that the elections run smoothly and democratically to elect a new leadership to strengthen the party,” he added.

Asked which position he would contest, Liow said: “I will announce it at an appropriate time.”

Liow will be in Perlis and Kedah today, followed by Penang and Melaka tomorrow, and Negri Sembilan on Sunday. — Bernama
