Mohsin met Najib, Pak Lah and Zahid, says PKR

MP Mohsin Fadzil Samsuri’s resignation from PKR, was inevitable, according to its Bagan Serai branch chairman Md Nasib Rahim.

Nasib said Mohsin had become stubborn and aggressive after secretly meeting several Umno leaders.

“He refused to listen or acknowledge us. We knew he had met Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Tun Abdullah (Badawi) and Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid (Hamidi).

“I am sure the meeting was to resolve the BN's offer for him to resign from PKR,” he said.

Nasib said based on his sudden change in behaviour, the party had suspected that Mohsin would follow in the steps of Bayan Lepas parliamentarian Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim and Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng.

“We were all aware of Mohsin’s financial troubles. His problems became worse when he was forced to abandon several of his cattle- and goat-rearing projects for lack of operating funds, “ he added.

Nasib said this (financial woes) and his self-interest were sufficient impetus for him to quit the party.

Mohsin had on March 3 quit PKR to become an independent, stating that he felt betrayed by the party leadership's stand on the "Allah" issue.

Also present at Mohsin’s present conference was former PKR secretary-general Datuk Salehuddin Hashim, who is rumoured to be the hand behind the defections. Salehuddin had reportedly said that more MPs would quit the party in stages.

In the 2008 general election, Mohsin beat former Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Zainal Abidin Zin from Umno by 3,413 votes.
