PKPIM wants action against sex toy outlets

Irked by the open sale of sex toys, the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students (PKPIM) called on the government to take immediate action against the relevant stores.

"At a time when cases of adultery and abandoning of babies and other social ills are on the rise, the sale of sex accessories will surely aggravate the social condition of Malaysian society," read the statement.

PKPIM was responding to a news report by Malay tabloid Kosmo! today which highlighted the operation of a franchise selling sex accessories in shopping complexes.

According to the report, the franchise operates in shopping complexes at Jalan Imbi, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Bangsar, Subang Jaya, Cheras and Damansara.

Profit-minded

Khairul Anuar also accused the sellers of being profit-minded without any concern of the moral well being of the country.

Previously the organisation had earned Malaysia a spot in the international media when they courted controversy over their remarks against Beyonce (left) and Gwen Stefani who were planning to perform in the country.

In August last year, PKPIM had opposed the Beyonce concert citing that the performance was against the culture and norms of the east. In the end, the singer herself decided to leave off performing in the country.

In 2007, the group had also attempted to abort Gwen Stefani's concert by organising protests, claiming that her dressing was indecent and that her video clips for the event were too obscene. But the show was allowed to go on.

Kes buang bayi meningkat sbb kurang/takde didikan agama, dan keseganan sistem pendidikan kita dlm membicarakan isu sex (sbb remaja ni kalau tak tau dia suka cuba2) bukannya sbb sex toys, dan satu lagi remaja2 bodoh dan miskin tak mampu nak beli sex toys wahai encik kamal, even condom pon dorang tak mampu nak beli, kalau dorang dpt beli yg murah, baguslah, sbb takde pempuan yg akan mengandung, tutup kedai tu tak bermakna akan kurangnye kes buang bayi, sex toys tak boleh mengandung, tapi anu yg tak pakai kondom yg boleh mengandungkan perempuan
