Zulkifli, who announced today that he would be an independent MP, said that if the PKR failed to act on little pharaohs masquerading in the party, the party's demise would be only a matter of time.
"It is not the numbers but the quality of people who have resigned.
"You can see ... people like Zahrain Mohamed Hashim (Bayan Baru), Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal), Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri (Bagan Serai) and ex-PKR secretary-general Salahuddin Hashim ... these are people who were very close to PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim.
"Their integrity is beyond question.
"My point here is that quality people are leaving. We do not want quantity but quality. I can assure that you another quality person would be leaving very soon," he said during the NST Live interview today.
Zulkifli (left) responded thus when asked about his earlier statement that more PKR members would resign from the party.
Zulkifli, a lawyer, was hauled up by the party's disciplinary committee to explain himself over the police report he had made against Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad of PAS, a PKR ally, regarding the use of the term "Allah".
He walked out of the disciplinary committee hearing, saying he would not be judged by non-Muslims on the board and asked for an all-Muslim panel.
On March 6, he was sacked from the party.
Zulkifli also said that he had asked his supporters to organise roadshows to explain his case and position to the voters and people of Kulim-Bandar Baharu.
"So far, I have received very encouraging support, especially from senior leaders and scholars from PAS and (several) NGOs," he said.
Asked about his political future, the outspoken MP said he might join an NGO rather than a political party.
He said that following his sacking, many political parties had approached him, including Umno and PAS, as well as several NGOs but he had yet to decide his next move, including even whether to contest in the next general election.
