INDONESIAN GUS DUR ATTENDED DATUK SERI ANWAR'S 61ST BIRTHDAY PARTY

Malaysiakini reported that former Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid who is also commonly known as 'Gus Dur' made his presence to celebrate Datuk Seri Anwar's 61st birthday party on Sunday at Kuala Lumpur.
This surprising meet among these two leaders shows the solidarity between themselves since Datuk Seri Anwar is Prime Minister in waiting while Gus Dur is eyeing for the presidential position in the forthcoming 2009 Presidential Elections in Indonesia.
It was further reported that Gus Dur had fully supported Datuk Seri Anwar since 1999 while he had written a few appeal letters to former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to release Datuk Seri Anwar from the 'politically fabricated' sodomy charge of 1988.
It was revealed that a week ago Gus Dur signed a letter with retired United States Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Conor affirming Datuk Seri Anwar's role in the democratic movement in Malaysia and he quoted that "I had no hesitation in signing the letter for I believe in Datuk Seri Anwar's innocence and importance to the needs of current history".
