Deputy Prime Minister and current Deputy UMNO President Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak has garned 135 nominations, making him to retain the UMNO Presidency uncontested as of today. His opponent, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has so far received only 1 nominations.
Datuk Najib picked up his 135th nomination from the 191 UMNO divisions this afternoon, ensuring that rival candidate Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah will not be able to get the 58 nominations required to qualify for the contest.
Its very clear that Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak will be announced the next UMNO President when the UMNO General Assembly meets in March 2009.
