POLICE CONTINUE TO LIE...AND LIE....AND LIE

It has been reported that the police have once again LIED to cover-up their fiasco by denying that they had detained 24 members of the public which included Oppositions leaders while the national anthem was sung during a BERSIH candlelight vigil last night. The evidence is in this video : http://www.malaysiakini.tv/video/16409 or http://pray-for-malaysia.blogspot.com/2008/11/police-chief-lying-regarding-bersih.html.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today defended police action at the illegal gathering in Petaling Jaya yesterday by claiming that the police were just doing their job in ensuring that public order was maintained.

It was reported that yesterday, police dispersed an illegal gathering of about 200 people at the Petaling Jaya Civic Centre and arrested 24 people including Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Phua, Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu and Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San which also included Malaysiakini videographer Syukri Mohamad. But this morning all of them were released on police bail.

It seems very clear that the police practice DOUBLE STANDARDS in enforcing the law. During the recent pro-government groups who protested against the appointment of a non-Malay to head PKNS (Selangor government investment arm), nothing was done which was similar to this.

Its time the police are made accountable for their UNFAIR actions.
