TENGKU ADNAN : 5 UMNO DIVISIONS FAIL TO HOLD THEIR DIVISIONAL MEETINGS

It was reported that UMNO Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor had stated that 5 UMNO Divisions had fail to hold their divisional meetings or their respective meetings have been declared void due to internal crisis. The divisions involved are Larut, Tenom, Pengkalan Chepa, Seremban and Tanah Merah.

As of close of 9 November 2008, only 186 UMNO Divisions have successfully concluded their meetings.

In the case of UMNO Division Tanah Merah Kelantan, Amran Abdul Rahman the Divisional Secretary had made a police report that the UMNO headquarters had infringed their powers in meddling with the divisional grouse.

While in Larut, Perak there was a dispute on the validity of a newcomer from a another division, MP for Larut Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin who had contested as the divisional chief with the blessing of the UMNO headquarters.

In the case of Batu, Kuala Lumpur the division is unhappy with the election of the Divisional chief.

While in the case of Seremban, Negeri Sembilan there was in-fighting while the meeting was in progress.

There were even reports of rampant use of money to buy votes from divisions, which the leadership is investigating and a report will be tabled soon.

Meanwhile, Tengku Adnan claimed that he was just carrying out his duties as instructed by the UMNO leadership.
