SYED HAMID ALBAR - PI BALASUBRAMINIAM POLICE STATEMENT RECORDED IN BANGKOK ON 7 JULY 2008

In a Parliamentary written reply to MP for Batu (PKR) Tian Chua dated 13 November 2008, Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar stated that the police had met Private Investigator Balasubramaniam at Bangkok on 7 July 2008 to record his statement and after that incident PI Balasubramaniam's whereabouts are unknown. But however, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid wrote that investigation have been completed on him making a false statutory declaration which will be dealt with under Section 199 of the Penal Code.

Balasubramaniam is a prime witness in the murder trial of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu and his controversial statutory declaration claiming that there was a link between Altantuya and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak which was on the following day retracted has cause much suspicion since he is 'missing' together with his whole family and whether this act has been 'politically' forced to be done so as to 'cover-up' the murder inquiry.

What surprises most Malaysians is the 'silence and cover-up' of the authorities on the whereabouts of PI Balasubramaniam, who would be able to give a detail account on the murder and the personalities involved.
