Palanivel claims he is MIC’s sole choice for Hulu Selangor

MIC deputy president Datuk G. Panaviel has claimed to be the party’s only candidate for the Hulu Selangor by-election this April 25.

Barisan Nasional (BN) has agreed that MIC can continue to contest the parliamentary seat which Palanivel lost by 198 votes in Election 2008.

“Only my name was submitted,” he told reporters after accompanying Deputy Prime Minister Dato Seri Muhyiddin Yassin in Masjid As-Sajidin in Batang Kali here.

When questioned how confident he was in being chosen, he said that it is up to the prime minister to decide.
Panaviel brushed off comments about his apparent lack of closeness to the people in Hulu Selangor, telling reporters to check out his work in his website.

When asked what the Hulu Selangor people needs, he cited their needs for better transport, housing, infrastructure, health facilities, and more job opportunities.

The Malaysian Insider reported a straw poll which quoted voters expressing support for BN but not Palanivel.
