Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is confident that the takeover bid by the Opposition, Pakatan Rakyat will not materialise since he will not allow such a situation to occur.
PM Datuk Seri Abdullah was commenting today on reports on Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's bid to seize power on or before 16 September 2008 will fail and had promised to thwart any attempts to topple his government with the help of defecting lawmakers from his coalition.
Bernama claimed that Datuk Seri Abdullah inform that Datuk Seri Anwar's Opposition coalition were relying on members of his own ruling party defecting but insisted that would not happen, and vowed that "We will not give them the opportunity to set up government on 16 September".
The Opposition, Pakatan Rakyat had gained unprecedented grounds against the Barisan Nasional coalition in the March 8 general election, securing a third of parliamentary seats and five States.
