It been reported that Malaysia through Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim had demanded yesterday (Saturday) that foreign governments stop interfering in Malaysian affairs by criticising the sodomy charges against opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also challenging the ruling coalition, Barisan Nasional.
Datuk Seri Anwar had claimed that the case is a politically motivated attempt to scuttle his bid for power against the UMNO, the biggest party in a coalition which think it is supreme and that has ruled Malaysia for past 51 years.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had irked Malaysia earlier this year by saying Washington would speak out in legal cases it considered political in nature, including that of Datuk Seri Anwar's case.
'We could if we choose question the legal basis of the Guantanamo detention without trial but we did not,' Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim told the UN General Assembly in a reference to the US-run prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for terrorism suspects.
'While same-sex fornication and marriage are acceptable in California, it does not mean that sodomy, which is a crime in many countries in Asia, is to be impugned or derided upon,' said Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais, who did not directly mention the Datuk Seri Anwar case.
This clearly illustrates that Malaysia seems to be in a poor reputation by foreign governments, which will be detrimental for the rakyat. Its time for the rakyat to get rid of this 'useless, ineffective and corrupted' BN government immediately so that foreign and public confidence in the administration could be restored.
From the arguments raised by Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais, it seems clear that the Malaysian judiciary, legal and enforcement systems are been meddle with totally by the ruling BN government to achieve their 'crafty' purpose.

Yes here we go again bring up the sodomy case to try and malign anwar not knowing that the delegates there know a thing or two about sodomy! It's a shame that we did not use the opportunity to seek the west help to resolve the issues quickly to say our derriere too! but we tried to preach and censure thinking he is in the animal farm back home than the UN.

this stupid rais should be proud that foreign countries gave their comments onto malaysia's laws. its because the laws are really abused and outsiders coming in NOT TO MEDDLE BUT TO GIVE OPINIONS OF IMPROVEMENTS!!!
however, rais knowing malaysia laws has been wrongly abused did not try to rectify the faults like zaid ibrahim. thus, this shows the laws are ONLY FOLLOWED based on a person's decision and not BY THE BOOK!!!
if rais is so fed-up with USA or any other countries, why not give the ultimate to BREAK AWAY BUSINESS TIES OR THROW A BOOM TOWARDS THOSE COUNTRIES!! this i think should work out well to 'threaten' outside countries from meddling into malaysia law!! the threats work well in malaysia so it should be no problem.
