It was reported that GERAKAN, one of the component parties in the Barisan Nasional is expected to quit the coalition if the UMNO leadership does not take immediate steps to reprimand UMNO Bukit Bendera Division chairman Datuk Ahmad Ismail for his alleged racist statements against the Chinese community on eve of polling for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-elections and his persistant non-apologetic attitude and his constant criticism on the GERAKAN leadership.
GERAKAN Acting President Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon stated that the GERAKAN will never be a "yes-man" in the coalition and it would also not leave merely because another component party’s member attacked them but feel the double standard practiced by UMNO and its members and further more were not addressing the problems faced by component parties after the disastrous defeat in the March 8 general elections where it saw a decline in support for the coalition due to UMNO arrogance, supremacy and double standards.
Tan Sri Dr Koh informed that GERAKAN would not act emotionally and the party would look at the overall picture, such as what the party could do for the people, for unity and for the economy.
Due to PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's weak leadership and arrogance and double standards practiced by UMNO, it is expected that the BN coalition will collapse very soon.
The support that the Opposition, Pakatan Rakyat had received should give a clearer picture for the BN leadership to change their current policies to accommodate for the growing concerns of the Malaysian citizens if they still want to remain in power.
Looking at the current situation, it seems that UMNO would not change until and unless some component parties quit their coalition and if the lose control of the federal government.
Its time for GERAKAN to exit the Barisan Nasional coalition now.

dont cry wolf..do it? all this seemed like satu drama bollywood....just do it..!
talk only, no action. bn will change, from bad to worse. wake up from your sweet dream, gerakan. perhaps you need hindraf to wake u up.
is there something hidden behind as to why gerekan shouldn't pull out since it came outright from fat ismail that he will not apologise and trying to pull twist his remarks to make the chinese nespapers as the real culprits !!??
dr koh, i think you had all along being the 'yes man' too long. if you can't or dare to decide , you as the leader, should ask all gerakan branches to hold a special meeting to decide. i'm sure dr lim would have spent rm1,000,000 to blast away this fat ismail to the moon if he is still the leader of gerakan. same goes for mca too!!
shame on gerakan and mca for giving it to rest. to us, it means your party is telling us we have to accept the fact that we 'tumpang and has no hak' .
i think i will buy more rotten eggs not only for fat ismail or the malay teacher who insulted the india students but for your guys too. to me, its worthit!!
Tan Sri Dr Koh,
for the future of the nation I hope you better leave Barisan Nasional. BN has no more future. it's beyone repair, with these group of UMNO crooks nothing can be done. It will be wiser for all the component party to leave at once, join PR for a brighter future.
Still remember you were once a chief minister and yet one of the UMNO bahagian dares to offend you. How can you tolerate this kind of Barbaric way? If Lee kuan Yew were to be in your possition he would have sent those monron back home to Indonesia.
