Syed Hamid: ISA can be used on Raja Petra (Malaysiakini)

Its reported that Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar had informed that MalaysiaToday blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin could be arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for having made sensitive remarks for allegedly insulting Islam and Prophet Muhammad after several religious groups, namely Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim), Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (Maiwp) and Federal Territory Religious Department (Jawi) had lodged police reports against him.

From information received it is clearly understood that the police and BN government seem to have no evidence to charge Raja Petra and seem to restore to the ISA.

Raja Petra has claimed that he does not own the news website, but Datuk Seri Syed Hamid informed that Raja Petra still had to be responsible for the contents published as he had always made himself appear as the sole representative for the portal.

These are one of the main reasons why certain quarters had demanded the abolition of the ISA as the government could use the ISA on anyone they feel fit since no questions could be raised by anyone.

The BN government need to realise that UMNOputras who had provoked racial sentiments had been spared the ISA and the unfair use of ISA on non-UMNOputra Malaysians would cost the downfall of the BN administration as schedule on or before 16 September 2008.

Will Raja Petra be arrested under ISA?
